WPT Borgata Poker Open to Take Place in September
The interim period is over as the World Poker Tour has announced that the Borgata Poker Open will take place online. The event is making a return to New Jersey after the long halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will begin on September 19th, 2021, and end on September 21st, 2021. The event will take place at the partypoker US network in New Jersey.
The tournament will culminate the partypoker US network and offer a $1 million prize pool. There are currently three networks: partypoker NJ, Borgata Poker NJ, and BetMGM Poker NJ. So, the participants from New Jersey can opt for any one of the networks to take part in the tournament.
The Return of the Sexton Cup in NJ
The Borgata Poker Open, which will take place in September 2021, stands out as the first online event of the World Poker Tour for the XIX season. On the other hand, the WPT has already hosted many online events through the partypoker site and is looking forward to hosting more of these events. The Borgata Open will be viewed as an official WPT event, and the winner will become a member of the WPT Champions Club.
Apart from that, the winner will also have his/her name etched on the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup. The event will also include the World Poker Tour’s Player of the Year race. CEO of WPT, Adam Pliska, has already announced the return of the Sexton Cup, and the last WPT live event that occurred within NJ was the Borgata Winter Poker Open, which took place in January 2020.
From March to December 2020, no events took place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But the tour runs several online events during that particular period. By January 2021, WPT held all the live events, and some of the events were held in Nevada, Florida, and Russia. Apart from that, the tour aims to continue hosting all the online events.
Previous WPT Event Attracted Nearly 400 Entries in NJ
There will be a $3500 buy-in, out of which $300 will go for the tournament fee, and the rest of the $3200 will go to the prize pool. The final table of the WPT tournament will be live-streamed through its Twitch channel. The festival events are not yet being declared, and only the $3000 main tour event will be pictured as the official WPT event.
Even though the September month’s WPT Borgata Open will be the 1st event, it will be marked as the 2nd official WPT event that is taking place within the US. In 2020, the WPT Online Poker Open attracted around 395 entries that helped create a prize pool of $1,264,400.
